Croy Beach Surprise Proposal Romantic Engagement in Ayrshire

Some moments stay with you long after the day is over. Adam and Eloise’s surprise proposal at Croy Beach in Ayrshire on 2nd August 2025 was one of those moments for me.

As an Ayrshire photographer, being trusted to capture something so personal is something I never take lightly. Adam got in touch ahead of time with a plan that was thoughtful, calm, and full of nervous excitement. The idea was simple: a quiet walk along the beach, a few photos, and a moment that would unfold naturally without Eloise suspecting a thing.

Croy Beach was the perfect setting. Open space, soft coastal light, and the sound of the sea in the background. It’s one of those places where everything feels a little slower, which made it ideal for something this personal.

To set things up, I asked Eloise if I could take a few solo photos of her. Nothing unusual, just a couple of relaxed portraits by the shoreline. While I was photographing her, Adam quietly moved into position behind her, dropping down onto one knee without her having any idea what was happening.

Once everything was in place, I casually asked Eloise to turn around.

The moment she saw Adam, the shock hit first, then the emotion. Her hands flew to her face, her eyes filled with tears, and everything else around them seemed to disappear. It was one of those split seconds where time feels like it pauses.

Adam asked the question, Eloise said yes, and the emotion completely took over.

What followed was one of my favourite parts, that quiet, shy kiss afterwards. No big gestures. No posing. Just the two of them standing close, taking it all in, wrapped up in what had just happened. Those are the moments I love capturing most, the ones that feel honest and unfiltered.

Being trusted to witness and photograph something so personal is something I never take lightly. Moments like this are a huge reminder of why I do what I do. Capturing real reactions, real emotion, and moments that will mean everything to them for the rest of their lives is genuinely one of the highlights of my job.

If you’re planning a surprise proposal, whether it’s on a beach like Croy, somewhere meaningful to you, or somewhere completely unexpected, I’d love to help capture it quietly and naturally, just as it unfolds.

Sometimes the biggest moments are the ones that happen without an audience. I also photograph relaxed, natural wedding days across Ayrshire.
